Welcome to STHLAM -INDIA

We started Sthalam with a simple goal in mind: to create a platform that makes it easy for people to connect with others who share their interests and passions. Our journey has been a long and winding one, but we're humbled of what we've accomplished so far- Instilling inner joy through dance.

ABOUT THE GURU

 

Vidwan Ujwal Jagadeesh is a renowned Bharatanatyam performer, teacher, choreographer and a research scholar. He is currently serving as a Programme co-ordinator and a Senior faculty at Ramana Maharshi Centre for learning, a cultural and spiritual organization recognised by Govt. of India. He is also heading the dance division Natyopasana at Sthalam, a Platform for Performing Arts.

He has undergone training in Bharathanatyam and other allied art forms for more than 25 years under Seniors teachers like Guru Smt.Leelavathi N Upadhyaya, Sri Pullikeshi Kasturi, Smt. Sushma Mohan, Dr.Sanjay Shantaram, Smt. Shama, Abhinaya under Smt Bragha Bessel, Theatre Arts for Holistic Development from Dr.Ambika Kameshwar and various aspects of Indian Dance ballet productions by Dr.Sarada. He has completed his Vidwat Exam in Bharathanatyam under Karnataka Secondary Education Board and is also a graded artiste of Doordarshan.


 

 

He has performed in various prestigious stages all over India and abroad including Natyanjali at Chidambaram, Brahma Gana Sabha at Chennai, Natarajotsava in Mysore, Ankura in Bengaluru, Andaman Island Festival, Ramana Vaibhavotsavam in Malaysia and Singapore winning many accolades. 

He has presented papers on various topics related to dance and has won the "Best Young Presenter" award at the Natya Rasa Lahari Conference conducted by RASA, Chennai. He is currently pursuing his M.Phil at National Institute of Vedic Science under the guidance of Dr.Vidya Rao.

Ujwal is inspired by the timeless spiritual heritage of Indian. He aspires to understand and disseminate the spiritual significance of Indian Art to younger dancers through performances, talks and workshops.
